Fragrance Overview

Nutty, Sweet, Floral, Grimy, Buzzed.  Those are clear words that come to mind when first applying this perfume.  Bogue’s DNA is undeniably behind all of this.  This is a scent I can imagine New York City smelling like.  My first time ever there, I came out of Hotel New York after a crazy forty-eight hours of traveling to the city for the first time.  Not a care in the world, I stepped out on the streets to discover what the city had for me.  Never saw a map or anything just my spidey senses.  I had two hours to make my way to Times Square, where my wife was on a separate trip.  We were in our early twenties.  I entered the streets, and, low and behold, there was Madison Square Garden.  Not knowing left, right, east, west, I put my head down and followed the energy, the lights, the noise, the flow of traffic, the food, and, yes, the smell.  This is the smell of finding your way to Times Square.  When arriving, my absolute first thoughts were, This place exists!  It’s the most viewed place I have seen from commercials, TV shows, movies, The Today Show, and tons of pictures.  Seeing it in real life was a surreal moment, and I am now brought back.  This envelopes a lot of memories, and evokes emotion.  Raw memorythat is what I want in my collection, a memory dear to heart now brought forth anytime I want to escape for a little while.

Fragrance Review

In Mem, I pick up a very drunken lavender, I like to call it.  Here, in I Love YY, the Bogue touch is a drunken ylang-ylang.  I get a nutty top to the fragrance (not sure what from) but it is a beautiful nut.  A dense grapefruit and jasmine combine to the rich lacquer, layered on top of a red rose.  A woody vanilla is drenched in all of this love.  The Bogue DNA has always been boozy to me in the form of rum.  A sugared spirit that is made for pirates and the like. Mem lovers, I have a feeling you will really love this.  It is a great change-up, from lavender to a mix of florals instead.  The base and Bogue accord in both have a very similar feeling and air to them.  This fits in really well to the house and I would call it a close cousin to Mem. I only found one clear transition.  The violet leaf takes front and center ahead of the florals and provides a familiar greeness to the composition.  That is now backed heavily by cedar vanilla.  Florals remain throughout the end, but the base layers are the signature to the drydown: cedar vanilla with the boozed-up Bogue DNA. Only knock is price; it’s $5 an ml.  I don’t quite see the justification for the jump in ml price, except maybe due to exclusivity.

  1. I have just talked with a friend about how stupid this world is… Yes. It is. Because if it wasn't you would have much more views and thumbs. Great video again 🙂

    1. @Therapeutic Fragrance Yes 🙂 When I talk about fragrances and smell them, I can forget everything. All stress, all sadness, loneliness… everything bad is just gone when I smell something beautiful 🙂 I know what you mean 🙂

    1. Ahh c'mon make sure you take a walk or run through Central Park. Not sure if the Brooklyn Farmers Market is year round if so a must. Not to mention the most flower shops in a condensed area. Okay moving on, my reference was to the mass of people in Times Square in particular standing around the ice rink at Rockefeller Center. Never smelled a plethora of perfume like that out doors. Definitely a vibe I get from I love YY. Can't wait to hear about your trip!!!

    1. Doleur is very hard to acquire. Honestly I haven't put in the effort because I got rosed out. Need quite a time away from rose. Of course if I could sample I absolutely would, but not risking a bottle buy on it. Very curious on your opinion of War and Peace. I need to wear again I did not have the best first wearing of it.

    2. @Therapeutic Fragrance nikhil from exotic scents just uploaded a review of the fifth collection, gonna get some snacks and watch it.

gonna get a small sample of doleur from luckyscent when it's available but probably
      won't get a full bottle.
I need to sample the new prins which are coming in december , hendley's bourbon and the slumberhouse releases.
the next couple of months are gonna be hard on my bank account

    3. @Therapeutic Fragrance I have the samples and tried them all once. Not wanting to buy any of them to be honest so not fretting over them selling out (W&P has already gone).
