Apologies to anyone who watched the first version. Bonus points if you can point out any differences. To be honest this got recorded twice I took and hour and a half to edit first one not knowing it, but this version was better. The other one I didn't realize was scheduled on YouTube and got published. This one had better lightting and a couple other tweaks. Anyways decided to edit this and get the best version of myself up for the review. Thanks for being a part of this crazy journey. Family: Woody aromatic Perfumer: Eugene and Emrys Au Year: 2018 Notes: Powder, orris root, palo santo, oakmoss, soil, fresh air Invoking the purity and tranquility of the Garden of Eden, Paradisus is a lipstick and face powder fragrance that smells vintage and even a bit boudoir. The orris root is intense--starchy, deep, dense and rooty, calling to mind mud or clay. There is an implication of cool dampness, like shallow pools of sweet water, and a fresh feeling that reminds us of aldehydes, and it's all smoothed over and tied together by the natural woody-creaminess of palo santo. Paradisus is perhaps the most artistic and imaginative offering from this house. Fragrance Quick Story From the brand. Paradisus is a lipstick and face powder fragrance that smells vintage and even a bit boudoir. Only if this lipstick were dark vibrant and smoking off the lips at the same time. You know the one Dana can pull off. Even commented on IG with her team it’s not fair. Fragrance in my opinion compared to Perfumes Notes Starts out dense and a tad soapy. Starting to really get a fill for some of the house accords that Eugene and Emrys offer. This is soft and dark now we get to see Palo Santo take a turn at Orris root. It’s a powder smoke of love. The perfume is doing wonders off my skin Earthy backgrounds with the freshest of air mixed with smoky aromatic woods all at the same time, let’s try to break this down, because everything is so in harmony I never want to interrupt. Palo Santo is as vibrant as you have ever smelled. Orris root literally just helps notes become their best. It’s one of those that just know how to enhance. You know like the women that are really unrecognized but are the extreme beauty behind some men, that is how orris root is coming off here. I know that it’s there and oh so presentable, but it pushes the palo santo in front without abandon of it’s own status and shows off the key characteristics hiding all flaws. Oakmoss is listed but doesn’t become a note in top and heart it just provides the strength of the base accord to let everything have a stage. Sure fresh air is top and heart whatever they are using for the ozonic accord. It smells like it is part of the ambergris formula that I think is brilliant, just a couple of things missing. They might tell on IG don’t forget to follow there. I have had luck with brands giving some great information on my posts. Unmistakable DNA house signature in the dry-down. Dry-down is of orris root which is a mainstay of Eugene and Emrys. Two big transitions one minor one. Very well blended and feels like it belongs to the picture painted. This will get docked for price, but if you have the money this is a great perfume and composition.
